May 15, 2019 @ 7:00 am - 9:00 pmUGX10,000
The Alliance presents the “Jazz and Wine of Palma” show by the contemporary dance company Cap Congo of Brazzaville (Republic of Congo). Adapted from eponymous work of the dynamic novelist, poet and chemist Emmanuel Dongala, the show evokes the situation of the Congo; its ruptures, crises, convulsions, its dreams and brilliance, its thirst for life.
The dance posses a fundamental question: How do we navigate the unsteadily changing Africa today as young artists?
The show constitutes of two elements; one being fragments of movements constructed, choreographed and arranged through collaborations with Dutch dancer and Choreographer Herman Diephuis.
The second element is the light design and engineering by Cleo Konongo regisseur, creator sound and light engineer. Creating an added depth to a story already being told with light and sound sweeping jazz beats and morphing into electro sounds.
Besides the show, the Cleo Konongo will be offering a free light engineering workshop and training at the National Theater on the 14th and 15th of May 2019, Call +256 792 200 253 for more information if you have interest.
The dance artists will give a free Rumba class session at the Bushpig Backpackers located on Acacia Avenue on the 14th 6 pm to 8 pm. Bring a partner and good shoes!
