As we count down the days from the start the of StartJournal Fundraising Campaign until it will end on the 31st of May, we are most grateful to people like you who make our work and the journal possible through your support. Thank you for your generous gifts! In total we have collected more than 4 Million Shilling for the Journal so far. Your money not only provides young writers the opportunity to write about the arts, it also supports the documenting of East African and African Art, archives what is happening in the art scene and keeps our website updated & online.
A succesful event at Iguana
On the 12th of April the campaign team organised a fundraiser party at Iguana. We thank you all for turning up in good numbers. We talked arts, laughed, danced on great Fella Afrobeat music AND donated generously. The proceeds of that evening were almost 2 Million Shilling! Of the two paintings made during our fun and quite successful event, Xenson’s painting was sold for 1,510,000 UGX and Donald Wasswa’s painting is still up for sale (contact Liz from Afriart gallery at 041475455).
Start would like to thank the campaign team headed by Anne for their hard work as well as Sebastian from Iguana, DJs DarkMeme and Mc Moze, Abramz and the Breakdance Project Uganda and visual artists, Wasswa and Xenson for their generous help and support.
