Rachael Kangumba: Industrial design is still a male dominated profession
In this Design Hussle episode, I talk to Rachael Kangumba, a creative extraordinaire who is using her creativity to mentor youth. She is also one of the founders of Leaves Arts and Animations, a creative studio specializing in industrial design, product design, graphic design, 3d printing, and prototyping.
Rachael talks about her experience as a woman in a man dominated profession and how she realised that she rather wanted to be self employed than working for a boss.
One thing I had to learn was about pricing and knowing my value. In the beginning they will tell you: “we will give you exposure and time to work on your portfolio”. In this profession we have all started designing logo’s of 100k UGX for a client.
